Katey was first selected for the White Ferns in 2003 for the tour to India, and has since represented the side in over 70 matches. She's one of the most experienced players in the team and is an exciting batsman who also keeps gloves for her domestic side, the Otago Sparks.
Martin has been a part of a number of winnings sides and played a key role for the side over the years. She's also a key figure in the changing room, and is well known for her bubbly personality and contagious laugh.
When asked to remember what it was like the first time she got the call up, Martin replied: “It was a pretty special moment. All that hard work had paid off and it was very exciting. I actually cried!”
A couple of highlights stick in her mind regarding her career. The first is participating in two world cups in 2009, and although the White Ferns weren’t successful, Martin enjoyed the experience. Her second memorable moment was scoring 80, her top score, against a strong English side.
Martin also has a full-time job, but works hard to make sure she is always available for cricket. Her love for the game has not dwindled.
