Suzie has been part of the White Ferns since 2006 and is also a double international. Suzie not only plays cricket at an international level, she also plays basketball for New Zealand and Logan Thunder in the Australian Women’s basketball league.
She made her ODI debut for the White Ferns against India at Lincoln in March 2006 and her Twenty20 debut in 2007 against South Africa. Suzie played an influential part in the White Ferns’ campaign to the world cups in 2009.
Her strength with the bat lead her teams to numerous victories, especially in the ICC Women’s World Cup. In the game against Pakistan Suzie smashed 168 off 105 balls and secured a place for the White Ferns in the final against England. The 168 is the highest ODI score ever by a woman.
Suzie says her greatest achievement to date was playing at Lord’s as well as playing in the two world cup finals in one year.
When she is not being a double international Suzie is studying towards a degree in physical education and marketing from Otago University but her main focus is continuing to be an athlete.
- Suzie is a hard hitting top order batsman and an aggressive medium-fast bowler.
- She is a dual International who represented the New Zealand basketball team in the Beijing Olympics. She brings back to the team a wealth of energy, competitive spirit and International experience in two sports.
- She scored a NZ record 168 at the World Cup in March.
