Lucy Doolan

Once asked to fill in for a friend during a social game, Lucy fell in love during her first game of cricket and the relationship is still going strong. Since her chance introduction to the sport Lucy has proven herself to be an extremely talented and versatile player.

She opens the batting, regularly takes wickets with her right arm off-break bowling and when necessary can get behind the stumps to keep. There’s not much Lucy can’t do and she has excelled in all areas during her international career. An impressive batting average of 27 and astonishing best figures of 3/7 puts Doolan in the category of best all-rounders in the world.

Her ODI debut came in May 2008, a game that ended with no result against England. She would follow this up just four days later with Twenty20 debut, by helping New Zealand to a four wicket win against the Aussies.

Doolan will continue to help the White Ferns and her domestic team, the Wellington Blaze, for many years to come. At 24, she is destined for great things, especially after the stellar start she has given herself so far.

Lucy wants to say a big thank you to all the White Fern supporters and says it’s always good reading the emails that come through from fans. “The message of support brings smiles to our faces and makes us really proud to be representing New Zealand.”

  • Lucy is an exciting all-rounder who can bat right throughout the order and bowls attacking right arm off spin deliveries.
  • She has a knack of getting very good players out with her flighted deliveries.
  • She is a genuine wicket taking option and has a sound head under pressure.
