Imagine getting the call up for a national sports team, just before they are heading to the World Cup. For Aucklander Victoria Lind her dream of representing New Zealand at cricket in a world cup came true.

Victoria says she was at work when she got the call to say she would be heading over seas to take on the top teams in the world. She says she way completely ecstatic when she received the call up.

She made her Twenty20 debut against Australia in June, a lead up to the Twenty20 world cup in England. Victoria says the highlight of her career to date was being named part of the Twenty20 world cup squad.

Victoria started playing cricket so she should get days for school sports. “I played every sport I could,” she laughs. “I played in a team with the boys and two other girls.”

When Victoria isn’t playing cricket in New Zealand she heads off to England to play cricket. She enjoys getting out and seeing the sights around Europe when she has the chance and spending time with her family when she is at home in New Zealand. Victoria also has a diploma in sport and recreation.

• Victoria is a hard hitting top order batsman and a very good wicket keeper.
• She hits the ball as hard as most and can be a very destructive player at the top of the innings.
• She has played in the NZ A team in the past and has worked her way through the ranks and could make an immediate impact at International level.

“I have an amazing talent of being about to dislocate my shoulder. It happens at least once a season and I just put it back in and keep playing.”
