This bubbly Wellingtonian has a vivacious zest for life and always has a smile on her face. Lucy Doolan is a keen all rounder who has been in the White Ferns for two years.
She got the call up to the team during her first week at university. After that the study was put on hold so she could pursue her life long dream of being a top international cricketer.
She debuted against England and says it would have to be one of her most memorable cricketing moments. “I remember going into bat at number eight and England brought the field in,” Lucy says. “I hit two fours and they had to spread the field again! It was great being and unknown and I went on to make 42. Happy days.”
Since her debut she has spent time in europe travelling around and seeing the sights while playing cricket, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. Because of her “travel bug” and dedication to cricket Lucy had to put her career as a nurse on hold, but says she might go back to it one day.
Lucy wants to say a big thank you to all the White Fern supporters and says it’s always good reading the emails that come through from fans. “The message of support brings smiles to our faces and makes us really proud to be representing New Zealand.”

“I can do the caterpillar dance move from a handstand. I always wanted to be a breakdancer!”

“I like to boogie, I’m cheery and bouncy.”
3. Why is cricket such a great game?
“It’s a great game to get into. The Twenty20 games are exciting and if you want to play there’s always people out there who want to help. If you want to put the time in, there’ll be someone there to put more time into you.”
