Kate L Pulford

After a five year break, Kate Pulford is once again gracing the White Ferns with her talents and skills. She was originally selected back in 1999, for the team and says she’s enjoying being in the team again.

“I’ve got more life experience,” Kate says.  “I’m calmer and respond to pressure better. I’m enjoying it more because I don’t have that fear of failure like I did when I was younger.”

She, like many of the other White Ferns, started playing cricket in the backyard with her dad. She’s an only child so Kate did “girly” things with her mum and “sporty” things like cricket with her dad.

Her cricketing highlight to date was participating in the two world cups in 2009, with the White Ferns coming in second at both events. She says it’s also amazing beating the Australians when the White Ferns were coming in as underdogs.

When Kate isn’t playing cricket she is a Chartered accountant. She gained her qualifications from Lincoln University and says she enjoys the analytical challenges the role of an accountant brings.

The Northern Spirit player thoroughly enjoys travelling in her spare time and loved visiting the likes of Austria, Switzerland and Florence.

Kate earned a recall to the White Ferns on the back of some outstanding domestic performances with both bat and ball and showed she still has the ability to be very successful at International level.

She was consistently the quickest bowler in the White Ferns team and has match winning abilities with the bat also.
