This laid back yet ambitious spin bowler has been bowling away his opposition both in the international and domestic cricket.
Jeetan has been a strong player for the Wellington Firebirds in the domestic competition first appearing in the 1999/2000 season. He was spotted in 2005 by the BLACKCAPS selectors and made his ODI debut for the national side against Zimbabwe in Harare in August that year. His Test debut came in 2006 against South Africa in Cape Town.
Jeetan is born and bred in Wellington and loves what the city has to offer. “Wellington is a great place,” he says. “The proximity; everything’s so close and nothing is a hassle.” You can usually find Jeetan enjoying a nice coffee or a spot of shopping on Lambton Quay when he’s not playing cricket.
He’s also multi talented when it comes to sport. Like a number of other BLACKCAPS players, Jeetan is a keen golfer. He took up the sport back in high school and has stuck with it ever since. He is currently teeing off with a 16 handicap.
Jeetan also recently got engaged to his long time partner. He popped the question recently in South Africa and although he is looking forward to the wedding, his main focus at the moment is the upcoming cricket season.
