The young batsman has made his mark through the age groups and finally debuted for the BLACKCAPS in 2008.
Daniel Flynn has represented New Zealand cricket on the international stage in the past. He captained the New Zealand Under 19 team at the 2003/2004 Under 19 World Cup and was then selected for the Northern Knights in 2005.
The strong left-hand batsman was called up to the international Twenty20 side to take on England in early 2008 after two stunning displays in the domestic league, scoring 143 and 149. He proved he is a big hitter and went on to play in the twenty20, ODI and test series against England.
Daniel says his career highlight to date was making his test debut at Lord’s, the home of cricket, in May 2008, especially walking through the long room and playing on the hallowed turf.
The Test series was one Daniel will never forget. He was struck in the mouth while playing against England at Old Trafford. He lost a few teeth that day, but he didn’t lose his confidence and he was back in the side in no time.
Although Daniel loved playing at Lord’s he says nothing can beat his home turf at Seddon Park in Hamilton.
In his spare time Daniel enjoys travelling to exotic countries as well as getting out and enjoying New Zealand’s natural beauty.
