Aimee has been part of the White Ferns since 2001 and eight years on she is still a strong player within the side. From early days playing backyard cricket with her dad, to making two World Cup finals with the White Ferns, Aimee is proud of her achievements. She is also the captain of the White Ferns, taking over the role after the retirement of Haidee Tiffen.
Another highlight for Aimee was scoring her first century against the neighbours across the ditch, Australia. She thinks it would be fantastic to see more girls take up the sport and enjoy it.
“My advice is to keep playing cricket,” Aimee says. “Too many girls get sidetracked with netball or socialising. Cricket is not the most popular sport, but you can make it to a decent level with great opportunities to see the world and meet new people, so stick with it.”
Aimee describes herself as relaxed, determined and loyal, which are three good assets to have when playing an international sport. She also takes those traits into the classroom when she teaches. She’s a secondary school PE teacher when she’s not travelling round the world with the White Ferns

Amiee’s secret recipe
Amiee’s secret talent is whipping up a meal in the kitchen and she loves a range of different food. From Mexican to Indian, she enjoys getting in there and whipping up something delicious.
Her favourite thing to make is stir fry and she says it’s quick and easy to make. All you need is some veges and meat in fry pan then add a dash of Soy sauce, a dabble of honey, a squirt of oyster sauce, some ginger or garlic and lemon or lime. Delicious, easy and something everyone will love.
