Best bowl: 3 for 55 v Central Stags 2011-12 (first-class)
Promising fast bowler Scott Kuggeleijn made his Wellington Firebirds and first-class Plunket Shield debut in the opening match of the 2011-12 season against the Central Stags, taking match figures of 5 for 140, which included the scalps of former internationals Mathew Sinclair and Peter Ingram.
Though not a Firebirds contracted player, Kuggeleijn was part of the pre-season training squad and impressed as a young fast bowler with some ability.
A former opening batsman at college cricket level, he grew up in Hamilton and attended Hamilton Boys’ High School, before coming down to Wellington at the end of last season to progress his burgeoning career with ball in hand.
He is the son of former Northern Knights all-rounder and former New Zealand U19 coach Chris Kuggeleijn. Kuggeleijn senior played two Tests for the BLACKCAPS and is famous for taking the slip catch to remove Indian opener Arun Lal to give Sir Richard Hadlee his then world record Test wicket haul.
