Specialist one-day player Ronald Karaitiana is a handy lower order batsman and accurate medium paced bowler, whose elevation to the State Wellington Firebirds in 2008/09 was the culmination of several seasons of promise as a youth cricketer.

Karaitiana played in five of the Firebirds State Shield matches in his first season, impressing in his debut game with 2 for 18 off seven overs in a first round win over the State Northern Knights in Whangarei.

The Masterton born and St. Patrick’s College Silverstream educated played for the New Zealand U19 team in the 2006 U19 World Cup in Sri Lanka.

Karaitiana is a former winner of the McDonald’s Young Entertainers contest on television, becoming New Zealand’s hottest young talent in 1997, aged nine.
