Neil moved to Otago from South Africa for the 2008/09 season in a move to play International Cricket for New Zealand. He made an immediate impact when he topped the wicket taking table with 24 in the State Shield.
In recent season’s Neil has continued to show that as a Left Arm opening bowler he has all the attributes to make the step up to International cricket once qualified at the end of the 2011-12 season.
Neil’s reputation spiralled high with his performances in last season’s Plunket Shield. Neil took 51 wickets including a world record five wickets in one over against Wellington in Queenstown.
He is a useful Left handed lower order batsman who can be severe on anything short.
