Harry Boam returns in 2011-12 for his fourth season of domestic cricket after initially winning a Wellington Firebirds contract while still a student at Wellington College.

The right-handed Boam, who can bat anywhere in the top or middle-order and also bowls handy medium pace, is an exciting player for the future and will be looking to further make his mark this summer.

He made the NZ U19 side for a third time in early 2010 and was New Zealand’s leading run-scorer in the ICC U19 World Cup with 202 runs at an average of 50.50.

Boam featured consistently in all three forms of the game throughout the 2010-11 season, averaging 34.33 in seven domestic One-Day matches and 39.85 in five Plunket Shield matches. He won the Men’s Outstanding Fielder Award at the end of season Norwood Awards

Previously, Boam, who plays in the English Lancashire League in the New Zealand off-season, made his debut for the Firebirds in all three forms of the game in 2008-09, immediately fulfilling his promise with 3 for 56 and 45 not out in his first match in December 2008 against the Central Stags.

The 2007-08 season was a record breaking one for the English born Boam, in which he was the leading run-scorer at that year's national U19 tournament, with his 542 runs at an average of 67.8, including 184 against Central Districts in a three-day match -  believed to be a Wellington age-group record.

He capped off a fairytale year by winning the 2008 College Sport Sportsman of the Year award.
