U19 World Cup - Team leaves tomorrow

The New Zealand Under-19 team are set to depart for Australia on Tuesday as they continue their preparation for the World Cup next month.

The 15 man squad will meet in Christchurch today, before departing for Brisbane tomorrow. From there they will take part in a six day camp, followed by two practise matches against Scotland and the West Indies.

After two more warm-up matches against South Africa and Nepal, New Zealand are then scheduled to play Scotland, Afghanistan and Pakistan in the pool stages.

For many New Zealand players it will be there second trip to Australia this year having participated in the U19 Quadrangular series in April.

Captain Will Young says that the side have put the effort in during their lead up and now are just looking forward to getting out there.

"All of the individual work has been done from the boys, so I guess it's down to the team now putting it together as a unit and the performances will take care of themselves," Young said.

"We all know it's a huge honour, so just looking forward to getting into it."

Their first game of the tournament is against Scotland on August 12th.
