INTERVIEW: Jesse Ryder talks to the Press at the end of day one

The BLACKCAPS latest centurion talks to the press after day one of the first test against India at Seddon Park in Hamilton.

On his maiden test century…

"It’s a good feeling.  I’ve thrown it away a couple of times before.  It get it is a great feeling for me personally." 

On Daniel Vettori being the aggressor in the partnership…

"It’s just the way it evolved.  Dan was batting really well and I just sat back and gave him the strike." 

On batting with Daniel Vettori…

"It was good, we kept each other going, each other motivated.  We told each other to keep going throughout the day." 

On holding back on the aggressive strokes…

"I kept it pretty simple today.  I stuck to my game plan and what I know and it worked for me."

On watching Chris Martin at the other end…

"I was sweating bullets there for a minute.  Lucky Tom [Chris Martin] got through those five balls and saw me through."

On not throwing his wicket away..

"I wanted to get through to three figures.  When the tail can in I just didn’t want to throw it away.  I backed them to see me through and they did."
