BLACKCAPS romp to 86 run win

Kane Williamson starred with the bat and ball as the BLACKCAPS recorded a convincing 86 run win over Indian domestic team Maharashtra in Darwin today.

The BLACKCAPS piled on 319 after being put into bat and then bundled out Maharashtra for 233 in the 47th over to win their second of three 50-over matches.

Opener Martin Guptill got the side off to a flyer, belting two sixes and seven boundaries on his way to 87.

Williamson, in his second match for the BLACKCAPS, anchored the innings with a classy 86 before being run out with the score on 285 for eight.

New ball bowler, Samad Fallah, took three wickets but leaked 75 runs while Jitendra Patil and Kiran Adhav chipped in with two scalps each.

Maharashtra's reply started positively with the openers racing through to 60 without loss before Tim Southee struck.

Another useful partnership followed but the wicket of captain Rohit Motwane induced a collapse that saw them crumble to 134 for five after losing four quick wickets.

A fighting 53 from number seven, Digamber Wagmare, gave the score some respectability.

Spinner, Williamson, picked up late wickets to finish with the teams best figures of three for 23 with seamers Southee, Jacob Oram and Andy McKay snaring two each.
