New Zealand Cricket (NZC) warmly congratulates Billy Bowden and Tony Hill after they were again selected for the ICC Emirates Elite Umpires Panel for 2012/13.
Each year the ICC appoint the world’s top 12 umpires to the ICC Elite Panel with neutral members officiating in almost all Test matches around the world, while one member stands with a home umpire from the Emirates International Panel of ICC Umpires for One-Day International matches.
Bowden, who joined the panel in 2003, is one of the longest standing elite umpires while Hill was appointed in 2009.
Manager Rodger McHarg said the success of Billy Bowden and Tony Hill a credit to the hard-work of the individuals and also highlights the strength of the development programme and pathway for New Zealand umpires.
“New Zealand Cricket would like to congratulate Billy and Tony on once again being appointed to the Elite Panel,” said McHarg. “Their on-going selection is the result of consistent, high quality performances over a number of seasons.
“Having two umpires well established on the ICC Elite list is a fantastic endorsement for the umpiring programmes we have in place and a credit to the attitude and commitment of Billy and Tony.”
