FEATURE: View from the bench - Katey Martin

Otago Sparks wicketkeeper Katey Martin from the sideline during The White Ferns 31 run loss to England at Bankstown Oval.

''Whilst it's hard to be on the sideline, it's just as important to work hard for the girls on the field, it's not all about ''getting a tan''.

As well as preparing drinks, food and other essentials, you get a good sideline picture of all fielders, the angles and when there may be a  ''moment'' in the match.

For example, build up of pressure.

There is no doubting you still feel the ebbs and flows in the game and the exihilaration of a stunner of a catch out there.

One thing though, Being 13th is not a job you want to be really good at, there is no substitute for being out there in the middle,  in the heat of the battle.
