All-rounder Grant Elliott will replace Corey Anderson in the BLACKCAPS ODI squad for the upcoming series in South Africa.

Anderson was struck on his hand while bowling and has sustained a fracture to his left thumb.  He will be a cast for the next two weeks and his return to cricket will be determined in due course.

BLACKCAPS Head Coach, Mike Hesson, said: “With the injury to Corey Anderson we decided to replace him with another batting all-rounder in Grant Elliott.

"Grant comes into the squad with invaluable knowledge and experience of South African conditions.”

Elliott has played 37 ODIs previously, playing his last game against India in Chennai in 2010. In these he has hit 716 runs, including a century against Australia at the SCG, and has taken 19 wickets.

The first of three ODIs are in Paarl next Saturday, 19 January.
