Ryder strikes for Firebirds

A quickfire Jesse Ryder half-century gave State Wellington Firebirds a six-wicket State Twenty20 victory over State Nothern Knights at the Basin Reserve.

Ryder plundered 60 off 39 balls as Wellington chased down the Knights’ 150 for eight with 12 balls to spare and earn the hosts their first win of the competition.

Iain O’Brien took three for 21 from his four overs to restrict the visitors, whose scoring was led by opener Alun Evans (45).
