Former England international Dermot Reeve has been appointed as coach of the State Central Stags.
“We are excited about having a coach of the experience and standard of Dermot join the State Central Stags,” Central Districts CEO Blair Furlong said.
“It is a fantastic opportunity for the Stags and our up and coming players to be exposed to someone of his Dermot’s ability,” he said.
NZC CEO Justin Vaughan described the appointment as a “great opportunity” for Central Districts.
“We need to bridge the gap between our State domestic players and international cricket and having a coach of the quality of Dermot will help take us in that direction,” he said.
Reeve will be contracted to New Zealand Cricket under a new initiative which will see all State cricket coaches centrally contracted and take part in wider coaching programmes outside of their Major Association during the winter months.
"I am delighted to have the opportunity to coach the State Central Stags and to give my assistance to cricket in New Zealand," Reeve said.
