Nosworthy extends contract

State Canterbury Wizards Head Coach Dave Nosworthy has extended his contract for a further two years.

Nosworthy is currently in his third year of his initial three-year contract with the Canterbury Cricket Association.

His new deal will keep the South African in New Zealand until the end of the 2009/10 season.

Nosworthy said: “It has been a great couple of seasons at Canterbury Cricket coaching the State Canterbury Wizards, and I am really looking forward to the next three seasons.

“This current group of players is very talented, and we are keen to develop all these players to maximise their potential”

Outgoing Chief Executive Richard Reid added: “Since arriving at Canterbury Cricket, Dave has made an outstanding contribution to the development and performance of the State Canterbury Wizards, and this was recognised by New Zealand Cricket with his appointment as New Zealand ‘A’ Coach in July 2007.

“It is going to be a challenging period over the next two seasons for our very young and talented team, and having Dave leading this group through this period is a real coup for Canterbury Cricket.”
