Guptill keeps Aces high

Martin Guptill’s half-century led State Shield leaders Auckland Aces to a five-wicket win over Otago Volts at Dunedin’s University Oval.

The Volts progressed to 207 for nine in their rain-reduced innings of 49 overs.

Greg Todd top scored for Otago with 48, sharing a 79-run stand for the second wicket with Aaron Redmond (42).

Seamers Andre Adams and Daryl Tuffey claimed two wickets each, with Rob Nicol striking twice.

Guptill shared a half-century stand with Lou Vincent (36) to set up the Aces response, and carried his bat for 81 as victory was achieved in 42 overs.
