The International Cricket Council (ICC) 2015 Cricket World Cup has started its search for the team to deliver this world-class marquee event in New Zealand and Australia.

The ICC Cricket World Cup (CWC2015) Chief Executive Officer, John Harnden, said the Head of New Zealand position will be key among the other senior executive roles advertised in leading newspapers across both countries from this weekend. The other New Zealand-based position to be advertised at this stage will be for a Community Engagement and Stakeholder Relations Manager.

The first phase of recruitment for the ICC CWC2015 will also include:

  • General Manager Commercial;
  • General Manager Marketing and Communications;

“The Cricket World Cup team will be spread across New Zealand and Australia to help develop and deliver a world-class sporting event and provide a unique experience for fans, visitors and business,” Mr Harnden said.

“The Head of New Zealand will be a key face for the event here and will lead a team of up to 40 people into 2015 for one of the most exciting sporting events in the world.”

The ICC CWC2015 will be jointly hosted by New Zealand and Australia in February/March 2015 with 14 countries competing for international cricket’s greatest prize. It was last hosted trans-Tasman in 1992.

Mr Harnden said recruiting the right people was important in establishing one team to deliver an event that will capture the attention of both countries and a worldwide audience.

“With 14 cricketing nations, more than 400 accredited players and officials and a potential television audience of nearly one billion people, it is crucial that we showcase New Zealand and Australia as the world’s best for hosting first-class sporting events,” Mr Harnden said.

”The ICC Cricket World Cup will also provide an enormous opportunity for both countries to be promoted as first-rate destinations for business, trade and tourism.”

New Zealand Cricket CEO, David White, said having a pivotal role based in New Zealand would ensure the ICC Cricket World Cup would build on the legacy of a highly successful Rugby World Cup.

“This is an exciting recruitment drive offering exceptional career-defining roles to be part of a close team running one of the world’s premier sporting events,” Mr White said.

“We want to find the right people to build a team that will make the ICC Cricket World Cup the most fan-friendly event of its kind.”
