Brendon McCullum to return home from Bangladesh immediately to start back injury rehabilitation

BLACKCAPS captain Brendon McCullum will leave Bangladesh earlier than planned to begin rehabilitation on a back injury that has ruled him out of the last two matches of the tour.

McCullum has undergone an MRI scan on his back, and the decision is that he return to New Zealand immediately for further review and to begin rehabilitation. The goal is to return him to full fitness for the ANZ International Series, starting with three Tests versus the West Indies in December.

"Brendon's back needs careful management - it's flared up and is giving him significant pain. The best course of action is getting him home for rehabilitation as soon as possible," said BLACKCAPS Physiotherapist Paul Close.

Kyle Mills will captain the side in the last two matches in Bangladesh, and for the Sri Lankan leg of the tour.
