The schedules for the Women’s One Day and Twenty20 domestic cricket competitions have been announced today.
A total of 47 games will be played during the summer, with the opening match scheduled for 6 December and the two finals to be played on 25 and 26 January.
In double header action, the Northern Spirit’s Twenty20 match against the Auckland Hearts at Hamilton’s Seddon Park on 10 January will be followed by an HRV Twenty20 match at the same venue, as will the Otago Sparks match against the Canterbury Magicians two days later at Dunedin’s University Oval.
Like last year, there will be two 50-over matches played on consecutive days in each round, while the Twenty20 competition will feature single fixtures.
There will be an 18-day break between rounds one and two, with the break accommodating the Women’s Under-21 tournament in which a number of domestic players will feature. The tournament will be in Lincoln, which will also host all teams in the second round of the domestic competitions.
Two outright finals will be played following the regular season, with the two top-placed teams from each format meeting in the deciders.
White Ferns Coach Katrina Keenan says there will be plenty of opportunities for the players to develop their games in the domestic season, with up to 240 overs of cricket in each round.
“It will allow players to stake their claim for a White Ferns spot in the home series against the West Indies in February 2014 and the ICC World Twenty20 soon after.”
Live-scoring for all women’s domestic matches will be available on www.blackcaps.co.nz and the Major Association sites.
