A century stand by Johann Myburgh and Shanan Stewart played State Championship leaders Canterbury Wizards back in to contention after Tim McIntosh’s double hundred for Auckland Aces.
McIntosh’s second career double hundred steered Auckland Aces into a strong position against State Championship leaders Canterbury Wizards at Eden Park.
The former Wizards left-hander made 268 in Auckland’s 469 batting first.
Auckland’s new ball bowlers then backed up McIntosh’s efforts with three quick wickets, but Johann Myburgh’s half-century brought his side back into contention.
At stumps on day two, Canterbury’s first innings was at 175 for three, 294 adrift of their hosts.
