State Auckland Aces youngster Roneel Hira returned his best bowling figures in the State Shield but it was not enough to keep State Otago Volts from victory in Queenstown.
Otago claimed a two-wicket victory with an over to spare after chasing down Auckland’s 202 all out, accumulated one delivery short of their full compliment.
Reece Young’s 68 was the top Aces knock, with Warren McSkimming continuing his return to fitness and top form with three wickets for 40 off 10 overs.
A solid performance from the Otago top order ensured they claimed victory with six balls and two wickets to spare.
Craig Cumming (41) and Jordan Sheed (40) put on an opening stand of 79 to help their side to the total.
Hira cut through the order to take four for 31, but the Volts tail wagged to ensure victory.
