Australian international Alex Blackwell struck a century on her State Otago Sparks debut but State Northern Spirit claimed the points with a seven-run Duckworth-Lewis win at Carisbrook.
Blackwell made exactly 100 in the Sparks’ 256 for six from 41 overs in a game delayed and reduced by the weather.
White Fern Suzie Bates hit 61 in a 164-run stand with Blackwell, whose century included nine fours and two sixes in 102 deliveries faced.
Northern began their reply and stood on 94 for three when the rain resumed, achieved in 16.4 overs on the back of a 79-run opening stand between Jeanette Ullyett (27 no) and Janice Fraser (55).
Their score was enough to give the visitors victory when Duckworth-Lewis calculations were implemented.
