Magicians defeat Hearts

A captain’s knock from State Auckland Hearts’ Ingrid Cronin-Knight was not enough to keep State Canterbury Magicians from victory at Melville Park.

The State League champions earned a four-wicket win to move into second place in the table.

Cronin-Knight made an unbeaten 71 of Auckland’s 182 for seven, a total which Canterbury achieved with three overs remaining.

All-rounder Sophie Devine top scored with 36, extending her run of form with bat and ball.

The result leaves Canterbury requiring just one win from their last two games, against State Otago Sparks, to ensure a return to the State League final.
