BLACKCAPS all-rounder James Franklin is free to play for English county championship side Glamorgan following an assessment of the tear to the cartilage in his left knee.
A diagnosis in South Africa suggested Franklin would require surgery to repair the tear and that he would not be able to play for the Welshmen,
The left-armer returned to New Zealand, but two different specialists agree surgery is not currently required because there was no functional impairment and he would not benefit from an extended period of rest.
Franklin will now take up his contract with Glamorgan, where the injury will be closely monitored. He will return to New Zealand for rest and surgery should there be any deterioration in the knee.
