New Zealand Cricket today announced that James Franklin has had to withdraw from the second Test against South Africa due to a right hamstring strain.
Franklin suffered the injury while bowling in the nets with a fitness test before today’s training confirming he wouldn’t be fit enough to be available for selection.
BLACKCAPS Physiotherapist, Paul Close, said: “James Franklin was forced to cease bowling yesterday due to a hamstring complaint.
“Despite treating the injury aggressively over the past 24 hours it has not responded sufficiently to be considered for tomorrow's match.
“We are confident he will be available for upcoming ODI series.”
