White Ferns 124-5 (Suzie Bates 57, Sara McGlashan 30, Shanel Daley 2-17) beat the West Indies Women 90 all out after 19.4 overs (Kyshona Knight 31, Sophie Devine 3-9) by 34 runs
The White Ferns have gone undefeated in their home series against the West Indies Women, winning the fifth and final Twenty20 by 34 runs at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui today.
It gives the White Ferns a 4-0 Twenty20 series victory to go along with their 3-0 victory in the One Day Internationals.
Having won the toss and toped to bat first, Suzie Bates (57) scored her second consecutive half-century to lead the White Ferns to 124 for five. An all-round effort with the ball then restricted the West Indies to 90 all out after 19.4 overs.
The White Ferns promoted Hayley Jensen to the top of the order for the match and the 21 year-old was impressive, before being run-out for 19 in the eighth over.
Sara McGlashan (30) then combined with Bates to put on 54 for the second wicket and bring up the 100 for the White Ferns in the 16th over. Unfortunately both she and Bates were unable to take advantage of the platform they laid, dismissed while trying to find the boundary late on.
The West Indies bowlers kept things tight in the final overs, with Shanel Daley finishing with figures of two for 17 from four overs.
However, the White Ferns bowlers put pressure on the West Indies batsmen throughout their pursuit, taking wickets at key moments to keep the momentum.
Kyshona Knight made 31 to give the West Indies hope, but a considerable partnership was not forthcoming for the visitors and in the end they fell well short.
Sophie Devine was once again a force with the ball for the White Ferns, claiming figures of three for nine from 3.4 overs.
Bates was named Player of the Match and the Series.
The White Ferns will now head to Bangladesh for the ICC World Twenty20 tournament.
