The State Central Hinds weren’t able to repeat yesterdays effort going down to the State Wellington Blaze by 69 runs at Karori Park in Wellington.
Batting first Wellington nudged and noodled their way to 189 in their 50 overs with no batsmen really asserting themselves.
The reliable pair of Megan Wakefield (35) and Sophie Devine (42) put on 77 for the fourth wicket. The highest individual contribution came from all rounder Elizabeth Perry who made her highest State League score of 44.
All of the Central bowlers were tight with the best figures coming once again from young Kate Broadmore with two for 30 off ten. Opening bowler Abby Burrows took two for 37.
The Central Hinds never looked like reaching the target after losing their first four wickets for 48 runs and were eventually all out for 120 in the 39th over.
Number seven batsman Esther Lanser put up some resistance with 26 to record her sides highest score.
The deadly Wellington attack was lead again by Sophie Devine who took two for 32.
Anna Dodd’s leg breaks were difficult to get away as she picked up two for 19 while Lucy Doolan cleaned up the tail to be the Blaze’s leading wicket taker with three for 26.
The result pushes Wellington further in front in the State League with Central slipping back to third.
