The Canterbury Magicians reversed their fortunes by beating the Auckland Hearts by 15 runs at Melville Park, Auckland.
Auckland chased down 244 yesterday but were unable to get the 140 required for victory in today’s match.
Amy Satterthwaite made 34 with Leah Tahuhu hitting her hightest score of 37 as the visitors struggled to get a decent total on the board.
Young left-armer Roseanne Cox took three for 12 with the experienced spinner Paula Gruber taking three for 26.
The Hearts couldn’t get any momentum in their innings, losing wickets regularly. Megan Tremaine put up some resistance but when she was run out for 30 the rest of the line up crumbled.
Amy Rendel picked up three late wickets with Kelly Anderson and Satterthwaite chiming in with two apiece.
The loss put Auckland back into third spot with Canterbury back in fifth.
