Broom leads Otago to six wicket win

The Wellington Firebirds lost to the Otago Volts by six wickets in a rain affected match at the Queenstown Event Centre.

The match was reduced to 22 overs after persistent drizzle delayed the start until shortly before 5pm.

The Firebirds were put into bat and managed 153.  It was a team effort with Stewart Rhodes the best of the line up with 33 not out off 22 balls.

Pace bowlers Warren McSkimming and Andy Bullick picked up two wickets each.

The run chase was lead by an unbeaten 61 of 58 from international Neil Broom.  Broom hit four boundaries and two sixes in his tenth one day half century.

Captain Craig Cumming offered valuable support with 34 off 24 balls, while Darren Broom chipped in with 20 off 12.
