Sir Richard Hadlee, Stephen Fleming and Waqar Younis were on hand to help launch the ICC Cricket World Cup in New Zealand in July 2013.

New Zealand has 23 tournament matches, including a Quarterfinal in Wellington and a Semifinal in Auckland and will host every team at least once, making this a once in a generation opportunity to see the world’s best going head-to-head in our backyard. The tournament will feature:

  • International cricket returning to Christchurch, when the BLACKCAPS take on Sri Lanka in the opening match
  • A rematch of the 1992 classic, BLACKCAPS versus co-hosts Australia at Auckland's Eden Park
  • The chance for the BLACKCAPS to play quarter and semi finals on home turf
