St John is the charity of choice for New Zealand Cricket and BLACKCAPS. The key objective for our partnership is to help raise public awareness of the need to support St John’s vital emergency ambulance, first aid training and community service programmes.
St John community services are funded by fundraising, community donations and the charitable organisation’s related commercial activities.
We support St John with activities at international matches and BLACKCAPS player appearances.
Supporting St John Youth Members
Members of the St John Youth were invited to be flag bearers at the first International Test Match between New Zealand and India in March 2009. Sixteen St John youth members were chosen to carry the flags and lead the teams onto the field at the start of play.
St John Youth members raised funds at the first three days of the Hamilton Test by offering the public sachets sunscreen for a gold coin donation. Charmaine Marais, Fundraising and Marketing Manager St John Midland Region said over $1,000 was raised for their Youth Division.

Volunteers recognition
As part of the ongoing Charity of Choice relationship with the BLACKCAPS, a selection of St John Northern Region (SI) volunteers had the lucky fortune to meet some of the players in February 2008 at AMI Stadium in Christchurch. Great fun was had by all and one lucky volunteer even got up close and personal with a certain Ross Taylor!!
