NZCT Secondary School Girls

Brought to you in association with NZCT.

In October 2010 New Zealand Cricket will call for entries for the NZCT Secondary School Girl's Competition for 2011. The competition will commence in the first term of 2011 and conclude with a national tournament for eight teams in December.

The National Secondary School Girl’s competition was started in 1994 and is sponsored by the New Zealand Community Trust.

The competition has provided an opportunity for every girls’ or co-educational secondary school in New Zealand to participate in a limited overs knockout cricket competition.

The preliminary rounds in each of the competitions are played within their major cricket associations on a knockout basis.

Eight teams will participate in the 2010 finals tournament to be held in Taupo over four days, starting on December 9.

New Zealand Community Trust and New Zealand Cricket

The competition is sponsored by the New Zealand Community Trust as part of their involvement in New Zealand Cricket’s secondary school and club development programme. This programme is stage two of a full national programme that was launched six years ago with an initial focus on recruiting and upskilling primary school cricketers. The second stage of the programme focuses on the development of secondary school and club cricket and the retention of young cricketers as they make the transition into clubs.  There contribution has helped nurture and develop our future White Ferns and BLACKCAPS.
