2011-12 Entry form »
The competition will again be sponsored by the New Zealand Community Trust who also sponsor the National Secondary Schools Girls’ competition.
This year's tournament will take place in Palmerston North between 26-29 March 2012.
As with the existing school competitions conducted by New Zealand Cricket, it provides an opportunity for the players to participate in a limited-overs competition (40 overs per team) and, in particular, it provides schools whose normal sports programmes follow different paths, the opportunity of playing against one another at cricket.
The competition will commence in the fourth term of the school year and conclude with a national tournament for eight teams during the summer tournament week in March the following year. It is open to all Year 9 students for the first stage of the competition (i.e. October to December) and Years 9 & 10 students for the second stage of the competition (i.e. January to March).
It will be organised on a regional basis, split amongst New Zealand Cricket’s six major associations however from a logistical and cost-saving point of view, the Nelson and Marlborough schools will play under the Canterbury Association banner. Each zone will have an overseer whose responsibility will be to organise a knock-out competition for their zone to determine a finalist to attend the national tournament.
With the competition commencing in the fourth term, it is essential that entries be completed as soon as possible and returned to New Zealand Cricket. Closing date is 23 September, 2011. Once entries have been received and processed, they will then be handed to the respective zone convenors who will prepare a draw and liaise further with you.
New Zealand Cricket welcomes your involvement in this competition which will provide increased playing opportunities for the boys and assist them in their overall cricket development.
Why not give it a go? It should be a lot of fun and remember entry is free.
