The ‘MILO Cricket in the Classroom’ CD-ROM resource comprises a series of innovative lessons on the theme of cricket that can easily be used as the focus of your teaching both inside and outside the classroom.
‘MILO Cricket in the Classroom’ is a unit of work on cricket. It consists of 30 carefully planned, user friendly lessons compiled by a primary teacher for you as a primary teacher at the level of your junior classes. The aim of the unit is to provide you with a follow-up to the MILO Cricket Skills Awareness Lesson run by local MILO Summer Squad cricket development personnel for your class. It extends the experience and fun of the game into your classroom through a variety of professionally prepared and presented cross-curricular lessons that fit the New Zealand curriculum and cover all the essential objectives and skills.
‘MILO Cricket in the Classroom’ complements the MILO Have-A-Go Cricket programme which is New Zealand Cricket’s introductory initiative that encourages children to participate in the game of cricket, have fun and learn new skills. This innovative unit of work builds on their sporting experience of cricket and reinforces the children’s enjoyment and appreciation of the game by using cricket lessons to stimulate their learning. If they enjoy themselves and are interested in a topic we know they are more likely to learn better.
