The Hawke Cup is a major competition for the District Associations in New Zealand. 

It is a challenge competition and to win the Hawke Cup the challenger must beat the holder at their home venue in a three day match.

Cricket teams from the main metropolitan areas do not currently compete for the Hawke Cup.
